Use dictation for a first draft, a meeting note, or a message while your hands are busy. The browser handles recognition; review the text before relying on it.

Accents vary. Pick the language you actually speak; the browser may still struggle with names and specialised terms. Changing the language restarts the next session.

Checking browser support…
In many browsers, recognition sends microphone audio to the browser vendor’s speech service. Lovely Tools does not record or store audio, but avoid dictating passwords, medical details, or other confidential information. Cloud recognition also needs a connection.

The short version

How it works.

No installer, no sign-up, and no second app to open. The work happens in the browser you already have, using the file already on your device.

  1. Allow the microphone

Press start and accept the browser’s microphone prompt. If the browser does not support speech recognition, the tool will say so.

  2. Speak clearly

Dictate in a quiet room at a steady pace. The transcript updates as you speak and can be edited while the session continues.

  3. Review and copy

Correct names and numbers, then copy the text into your notes. Stop the microphone when you are finished.

Fine print, without the runaround

Good to know.

Every tool has a boundary. These are the ones worth knowing before you start, so the result is not a surprise.

Recognition may be cloud-based

In many browsers the speech recognition engine is provided by the browser vendor and may send audio to its service. Lovely Tools does not record or store audio, but the browser’s own data policy applies.

Not suitable for confidential recordings

Because audio may leave the browser through the recognition service, do not dictate passwords, medical details, or other sensitive material.

Questions

Asked and answered.

Still stuck? Write to info@lovelytools.site.

Which browsers support dictation?

Chrome, Edge, and recent Safari versions generally support the Web Speech API. Firefox support is limited or unavailable. The tool checks for support before asking for microphone access.

Is the audio saved?

Lovely Tools does not record or store audio. The browser’s speech service may process it according to the browser vendor’s policy.

Can I transcribe an audio file?

This tool listens to the live microphone rather than a file. For an existing recording, use a dedicated transcription service and review its privacy terms.
