Values come from the pixels in this image. JPEG compression can create slightly different colours across a flat area, so compare a few nearby samples.

The short version

How it works.

No installer, no sign-up, and no second app to open. The work happens in the browser you already have, using the file already on your device.

  1. Open an image

Add a screenshot, photo, or design reference. The image is displayed at a convenient size while pixels are read from the original.

  2. Click a colour

Click any point on the image. A magnified preview helps place the sample accurately.

  3. Copy the code

Copy the HEX, RGB, or HSL value, and collect a few swatches if you are building a palette.

Fine print, without the runaround

Good to know.

Every tool has a boundary. These are the ones worth knowing before you start, so the result is not a surprise.

Compression shifts colours

A JPEG can contain slightly different values across a supposedly flat area. Sample a few points and choose the one that matches the intended colour.

Screen colour is not print colour

HEX and RGB describe light on a screen. Printing uses ink, so a colour may need conversion to CMYK and a proof before production.

Can I pick a colour from a PDF?

Take a screenshot of the page and open the image here. The picker reads image pixels, not PDF objects.

Which format should I copy?

Use HEX for web CSS and design tools, RGB for screen specifications, and HSL when you need to adjust lightness or saturation systematically.

Is the image uploaded?

No. The image is read into a local canvas and colour values are calculated in the browser.
